QualificationsWarren Beck and Ron Slavik are the consultants who would be providing this training. Warren is a former News Director of Hamilton radio station, CHML. In this role, his daily decision-making involved story selection, assignment of reporters, setting and monitoring news programming policy, responding to programming at times of local emergencies. He has had an extensive career in Broadcast Journalism as a program director, news reporter, news and sports broadcaster. He also works for a number of independent radio stations throughout North America. Warren has been a respected member of the Radio Television News Directors Association(RTNDA), a North American-wide group of broadcast news executives and has served as the Ontario Director of the RTNDA in radio. He is also a member of the association for Media Literacy. Ron Slavik holds a BA in English from the University of Toronto and an MA in English from the University of Western Ontario. He has studied under CBC television anchor, Larry Henderson. Subsequently, he has had an extensive community college educational career both in management and in teaching communications and effective speech to television, radio and broadcast journalism sutdents. An accomplished consultant in presentation skills, he regularly reviews and edits communication texts for publication. Ron is a member of the TRNDA, the Canadian Communication Association and the Canadian Association of Media Education. ExperienceWarren Beck and Ron Slavik have been an effective team for ten years as workshop leaders, each committed to providing a practical, hands-on and worthwhile experience for their clients. Warren brings to the table the communication perspective of a seasoned and experiaenced broadcaster and journalist. Ron has enjoyed a long career as a communication consultant and adult educator. |
