Effective Communication & Media Training Workshop for Educators

These MEDIASMART workshops are designed to provide you with the required media skills and practice to improve your own media effectiveness and the media profile of your school(board).

These lively sessions will also target specific areas such as news releases, news conferences, and presentation techniques.

Workshop Outcomes

Participants in these workshops will:

  • Acquire specific knowledge about proven communication strategies in the educational context
  • Participants will acquire specific knowledge of radio, television and print news and communication techniques
  • Identify and practice the skills related to presenting themselves effectively in public and radio and television
  • Problem-solve real challenges that call for skilled communication and positive media relationships
  • Prepare sample news releases for education programs and events
  • Recieve training on crisis management and damage control techniques through news releases, news conferences, TV and radio interviews
  • Participate in mock interviews and/or news conferences in an educational setting

Workshop Format

These workshops can be applied to Professional Learning Programs in Curriculum Knowledge, Classroom Knowledge and Leadership, and Communication with Parents and Students.

These workshops are designed for 25-30 participants. The one-day session is balanced between the information provided by the workshop leaders and the involvement of the participants. This includes case study and role-playing scenarios relevant to their personal educational settings
